Boston police are asking for the public’s help identifying a woman who allegedly stole hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of jewelry from a day spa in the city’s Back Bay neighborhood this week. The larceny occurred around 2:33 p.m. Tuesday at G20 Spa + Salon, located at 33 Exeter Street, police said, describing the suspect as a female, possibly in her 20s, about 5’4 tall and 130 pounds with blonde hair and dark roots. According to police, the woman stole approximately $250,000 worth of jewelry from the locker room. |

A man was spray-painted in the face Tuesday during a city council meeting in Worcester, Massachusetts. City Manager Eric Batista said Wednesday that the incident occurred around the start of a meeting at Worcester City Hall. Police responded to a report of a fight around 6:30 p.m., arriving to find a resident with paint on his face. He told officers he was spray-painted on the third floor at the Esther Howland Chamber, where the council meets. |

Students in three Massachusetts communities have been out of school for nearly two weeks as teachers remain on strike. Melissa Wiley’s 9-year-old son, Nazayah, is ready to get back to class in Beverly, but schools in the city are empty — as are schools in Gloucester and Marblehead. All three districts will remain closed Thursday. Teachers the communities are demanding better pay, benefits and paid parental leave. The strike is impacting some 10,000 students across the region. |

Scrutiny over Massachusetts State Police’s handling of murder investigations has boiled over in the past year. The Karen Read murder trial and the Sandra Birchmore case — only recently classified as a homicide because the federal government stepped in — have garnered headlines across the region and the nation. Those cases reignited passions for Jennifer Root Bannon, who lost her brother in an officer-involved shooting in February 2020. A Massachusetts State Police trooper was one of the responding officers to fire a weapon that day. |
