Holiday Math Tid-Bits!

With the holidays right around the corner, engaging students in their math thinking is easier than you think. With our older learners, bring them along with you to food shop before a big meal. Ask them to find the food with the best unit price. For our younger learners, ask them to round the price of the items to the nearest dollar and then estimate what the total cost would be. And for the youngest learners, they can count the amount of plates set out and make sure there are enough for everyone. These small tasks help to exercise students’ math brains, even when they are home for the holidays!

Recess

Please remind your students to dress appropriately for the weather. Students have recess every day, weather permitting, so make sure your child is dressed appropriately with a warm coat and other cold-weather clothing, so they can comfortably enjoy their time outdoors.

Winter weather will be here before you know it! Watch this video to see how closing decisions are made.   FCPS' website  is the first place to find out about emergency weather closings along with email, text, social media and news stations!

Federal Impact Aid Forms

FCPS is asking all families to fill out a Federal Impact Aid Survey. The form is available online in SIS ParentVUE.  If you have not already filled out the form online, paper forms were provided last week in your child's Thursday folder. If you need another copy, please contact our Registrar.

Completing this form for each school-aged child in every household is important, because information from this survey resulted in more than $4 million in funding last year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.

The electronic Impact Aid form is available online through ParentVue
until January 31, 2025

We need 100% participation.  Thank you for your support!
