Senior Pet Adoption Event
Friday - Sunday, Hours Vary
Adoption fees will be waived for all cats and dogs 6 years or older at our Animal Shelter's Lorton and Michael R. Frey Campuses. All adopters will receive a $500 credit for bloodwork and other veterinary services at Pender Veterinary Center, courtesy of Friends of the Fairfax County Animal Shelter.

Visit Mosaic to shop for unique gifts from over 65 talented makers at its Holiday Village Market. Celebrate the season, support local artisans and get a head start on your holiday shopping.

Holiday Gingerbread House Decorating (10 a.m. - noon)
Celebrate the holidays at the McLean Community Center. Decorate a gingerbread house and make a one-of-a-kind design. Supplies are provided with the registration fee.

Practice drawing characters and creatures from Harry Potter at the Kingstowne Library. Use step-by-step tutorials to make something special.
Hands-on History: Native Americans of the Potomac (11 a.m. - noon)
Learn about the customs and values of the indigenous people of the Potomac region at the Herndon Fortnightly Library. Connect with plants and animals, explore artifact replicas, tell a traditional folklore story, and learn to shoot a bow and arrow.
Cross Stitch Bookmarks (2 - 3 p.m.)
Make your own cross stich bookmark at the Sherwood Regional Library. This event is for beginners. All materials will be provided.

American Indian Games and Crafts (2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.)
Play traditional Eastern Woodland Indian games of skill and luck at the Hidden Oaks Nature Center. Enjoy stories and make a game to take home. Registration is $8.

Furry Foxes (1 - 2 p.m.)
Learn about the lives of foxes through activities at Burke Lake Park, including practicing yipping like a fox.
Succession (1 - 3 p.m.)
Hear about family feuds over inherited wealth, land and titles as we explore scandalous court cases, curious wills and contested bequests at Green Spring Gardens Park. Registration for the tea program is $40; $18 for lecture only.
Burke Historical Society presents: Philately and the Springfield Stamp Club (3 - 4:30 p.m.)
The president of the Springfield Stamp Club will discuss the practice of stamp collecting and share some notable examples of local stamps at the Pohick Regional Library.
