Judicial Drive Trail Bridge to be Installed Overnight, Nov. 26
The Judicial Drive Trail extension project is nearing completion. The next step will install a 70-foot pedestrian bridge to connect the new trail to Presbyterian Way.
The bridge will be installed overnight starting Tuesday, Nov. 26.
No parking signs will be placed along the road to ensure access for the truck and crane. The bridge is expected to arrive at the Fairfax Presbyterian Church parking lot between noon and 4 p.m. Later in the evening, around 10 p.m., a large crane will arrive to place the bridge on new concrete abutments. By daybreak, the bridge should be installed, and the crane will be gone.
During this construction, there should not be any loud noises. However, some properties near the construction site may hear beeping and truck engine noise. Construction crews will work hard to minimize any noise disturbance. The city appreciates your patience during this time. If you have any concerns, please contact project manager Walt Harrison at 540-621-6277 or via email.
The Judicial Drive Trail runs from Hallman Street to Judicial Drive. This project completes the missing portion of the trail.

We have identified five transportation projects to consider for outside funding. If approved and funded, the projects would be developed over the next 10 years. We need your feedback on whether these are the right priorities.
- Fairfax Circle Intersection Evaluation
- Main Street/Lyndhurst Dr/Trapp Road Intersection Concept Development
- Bicycle Route Wayfinding Plan + Implementation
- Vienna Metrorail Station North Side Improvements (with WMATA)
- Residential Sidewalk Feasibility
Please use the interactive map on Engage Fairfax to weigh in on whether these projects meet the community’s needs. Once the list of proposed projects is adopted in the Two-Year Transportation Program, high-level conceptual plans for each project will be developed.
The community will have another opportunity to evaluate the projects before City Council votes to submit these projects for regional, state, and federal funding consideration.

Fairfax City is developing a new green building policy that will establish standards and incentives for new public and private construction and major renovations.
The green building policy will help the city preserve and enhance the city’s natural resources and environment; reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) and increase clean energy; and increase social, health, and economic benefits for the community.
Please visit Engage Fairfax to view the draft policy and participate in discussions on specific topics and share ideas.
