Back in 2011, film director Carlo Lorenzo Garcia had a lightbulb moment: why not counter BFCM shopping with some dedicated giving back experience? He called it "Cyber Giving Monday," but, like Google+ which also launched that year, it didn’t quite get people to join in.
Fast forward a year later, and along came the UN Foundation with Henry Timms to rebrand the idea into something snappier: "GivingTuesday" — a day to do good, support nonprofits, and maybe redeem yourself for buying that inflatable hot tub or feather hair extensions.

It's not only a time for non-profits to nail their messaging right, but kicks off a year-long campaign for brands to get their stuff together and help others out. So here are some inspirational emails to do just that.
