Dear readers, Without further ado, here they are: the 10 Best Books of 2024. I’m not sure I’ll ever fully shed my belief that books are products of their time. So it’s a thrill to me that one of our nonfiction choices is a book first published 74 years ago, and that two of our favorite novels engage substantively with the past. Taken together, all 10 of these books help make sense of our current moment. But most of all, they’re absorbing and diverting, rich without being didactic. I hope you love them as much as we did.
