Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken spoke with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty today.  The Secretary thanked the Foreign Minister for Egypt’s pivotal role as mediator to reach a ceasefire and hostage deal that will halt the fighting in Gaza, secure the release of hostages, and surge much needed humanitarian assistance to Palestinian civilians.  The Secretary and Foreign Minister discussed next steps to continue building momentum to lasting peace and security in the region.  The Secretary and Foreign Minister also discussed ongoing cooperation with Egypt on humanitarian access, protecting civilians, and work to achieve a cessation of hostilities and find a path for peace in Sudan.
