School-Wide Museum Madness Field Trip

We’re excited for this year’s school-wide field trip, scheduled for Thursday, February 27!  Students will explore various museums tailored to their grade level and curriculum.

Due to t-shirt production time, we require all forms by Thursday, February 6.

Please complete your child's permission slip and field trip payment, which includes a schoolwide field trip t-shirt order form through MySchoolBucks by Thursday, February 6th, 2025.

Yearbook Orders
Yearbooks are now on sale for $20.00!  You can order your yearbook through January 31, 2025.  Keep our West Springfield Elementary order number 21854 handy when you log on.  Place your order online at https://yearbookordercenter.com

Distribution of Community Fliers
West Springfield Elementary School offers the opportunity for nonprofit organizations to make their materials available to students and parents.  Community fliers can be sent home in the student’s backpacks on February 6.  Procedures are found on our school website.

Gradebook Available Until End-of-Quarter
Based on community feedback from the first quarter closure, FCPS revisited the scheduled dates for closing the Gradebook and Report Card modules in the SIS ParentVUE and StudentVUE apps. 

Moving forward, the app will close in alignment with the actual quarter-end dates. This change will allow students and families to view their assignments and grades until the last day of the quarter. Gradebook will be closed for the second quarter from Tuesday, January 28, 4 p.m. to Tuesday, February 4, 6 a.m.

Picture Orders
Retake/Makeup day images are now online. Families will have received a reminder email to view images from Victor O'Neill Studios.

Free Webinars and Events for Families In January, the Family Resource Center (FRC) will host webinars for families on:

  • Supporting Your Child’s Executive Functioning Skills: Friday, January 17th, 10 – 11:30 a.m. Discover how to support your child’s executive function skills in our webinar series. We will present information on understanding your child’s developmental milestones, recognizing signs of executive dysfunction, and implementing effective strategies to support their learning at home and in school.
  • Depression in Teens: Friday, January 24th, 10 – 11:30 a.m. Practitioners will discuss the prevalence of major depressive disorder and how to identify depression in teenagers as well as elements of recovery and strategies for treatment.
  • Understanding Trauma in Your Child/Comprendiedo el Trauma en su Hijo (presented in Spanish): Parte #1: 31 de Enero de 2025 10-11:30 a.m. Aprendemos sobre el trauma en este semanario de web de 3 partes y sobre los diferentes tipos de trauma, las respuestas naturales y los efectos que esto puede tener tanto en los niños como en los padres y estrategias que los padres pueden usar para apoyar a sus hijos de manera efectiva.
